TABLE OLIVES

Olive trees are well known since ancient times and they probably come from the Eastern Mediterranean area.

Greeks were the first to cultivate olive trees in the European Mediterranean area. All varieties of olive trees can be grown in Greece and they produce the tastiest olives. Olives have a natural bitter taste whether unripe or ripe. .

In our area olive trees mainly produce the varieties of Kalamata and Amfissa

Amfissa:

Amfissa table olives are the most popular table olives in Greece. Their harvesting begins in autumn and ends in spring. Olives harvested in September are round, crisp and of vivid green colour.

As months go by, the nut gradually ripens and becomes reddish until it reaches its final stage of maturity and becomes black when still on the tree. This way we can get three different kinds of table olives from the same tree: green Amfissa olives, blonde Amfissa olives and black Amfissa olives.
